On place
France will always be home to me, it is where my family lives, where I grew up. Although I live in Los Angeles which became my new home, I still feel the need to go back to my roots every year or I feel out of place. That yearning to return to my birth country is very real for me. While in California, I like to recreate little rituals that I had growing up—a roast chicken on Sundays, 7-hour lamb at Easter; ratatouille, and quiche Loraine—anytime.
On spiritual protection
I do some simple breath-work every morning right when I wake up. I can’t live without it; it clears my head and puts me in a good mood for the day.
I also love a little garden ritual—watering, pruning, harvesting. Love for gardening and spending some time outside working with plants is almost a cliché, but I find it incredibly helpful as a practice. So there it is—breathing and dirt. The true classics of the human experience!
